Another person has died from dengue, with 561 in the hospital.
In the past 24 hours, one more person has died from dengue in the country. During this time, 561 people have been hospitalized. This information was reported in the dengue-related report from the Health Directorate on Thursday (September 12).
It was stated that among those hospitalized due to dengue in the last 24 hours, 292 are from the Dhaka City Corporation, while the others are from outside Dhaka.
So far this year, a total of 17,845 people have been hospitalized due to dengue. Of these, 15,896 have been discharged. A total of 103 people have died.
Specialist physician Professor Dr. Atikur Rahman stated that dengue is no longer seasonal; it is occurring year-round. It increases with the onset of rain. To prevent dengue, mosquito repellent medications should be used, and the city corporation should conduct awareness campaigns everywhere. At the same time, everyone needs to remain vigilant.
Although the two city corporations in Dhaka have taken various initiatives throughout the year, entomologist Dr. Monzur Chowdhury says that merely imposing fines and increasing public awareness will not be sufficient for mosquito control. Proper surveys must be conducted, and effective measures should be taken with skilled personnel.
It is noteworthy that in 2023, the country recorded the highest number of dengue cases in its history, with 321,179 patients affected and 1,705 deaths.
